A composition is a creative way of communicating visual data that accommodates different graphic elements – text, illustrations, photos, patterns, and more. At times, it can be difficult to place all the elements harmoniously on the canvas. They shouldn’t be too scattered over the t-shirt area, and they shouldn’t be placed too closely together, creating an incomprehensible pile of designs.
Identify the key elements of the composition, and keep the focus on them. Usually it’s the main picture or illustration, complemented by text. More often than not, manipulate the borders of the photos so they don’t have a standard clear line. Designers use masks, frames, add typography to the edges of photos or use clipping from photos of irregular shape.
Typography should always support the idea of the photo or picture. Also make sure that the lettering does not merge with the background or other elements of the composition. To create a complex composition, you’ll need good graphic-editing skills.
